Treatment Philosophy
Acknowledging the mindbody connection is integral to addressing the root causes of pain. My approach to treatment is to view each person holistically and provide as much individualized care as possible within each session. Using a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, soft tissue mobilization, dry needling/IMS, yoga therapy, meditation techniques, pilates and exercise prescription, I can guide you toward alleviating your current pain conditions and achieving your health goals.
I am an advocate for the clinical advancement of women’s health issues, especially through treatment of pelvic floor conditions. My training in pelvic floor dysfunction has included courses to assess and treat urinary incontinence, complex pelvic pain, sexual pain, vulvodynia, vaginismus, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, gastro-intestinal disorders, pre and postnatal care, preparation for labour and delivery, post-surgical, post-menopausal and post-cancer care.
I am also a dedicated follower of the Iyengar yoga tradition, and hold certifications in medical therapeutic yoga, integrative lifestyle medicine, and therapeutic yoga for pelvic health conditions. Yoga therapy can aid patients in all types of rehabilitation settings including recovery after trauma, post-operative procedures, and other chronic pain conditions. Yoga is an important tool for postural correction, lengthening of shortened muscles, body awareness, mediation, balance and proprioception.
